The Nuts and Bolts of Advertising Your Facebook Page

As mentioned in the article, Five Proven Ways to Promote Your Plastic Surgeon’s Facebook Page, Facebook ads are the most cost effective method you find anywhere to bring more fans to your Facebook page and promote your practice. Facebook ads enable you to advertise your website, specific content on your Facebook page (like an event), and just about anything else you can think of. For those who have used Google AdWords there is practically nothing to learn but even for the novice it only takes a few short minutes to get up and going with a Facebook Ad.

The first thing you to do is visit, log in and click “Create an Ad”. After that, here are the simple steps to creating your first ad:

Step One: Choose your destination URL

In other words, choose where you want people to be directed when they see your ad. This can be something already on your Facebook page like an event or group or it can be your website or blog. Create an image appropriate for the ad, enter a title and description for the ad, and ad the image you already created. Images with ads are important because they significantly increase the number of people who will actually click on the ad.

Step Two: Choose how you want your ad to be targeted

This is where Facebook Ads shine. Facebook Ads are not intended to be a one-size-fits-all like a Yellow Pages ad. These perform the best with targeted to be displayed to users most likely to be interested in plastic surgery and are likely to use your practice in particular. You can fine tune the ad to go to certain zip codes in order to target certain socio-economic demographics. You can even target potential visitors based on their interests or connection on Facebook.

A little thought and creativity will lead you to advertise differently than you ever have before. Ads can be targeted at groups of people who naturally lean toward using a plastic surgeon already. You can, for example, target an ad to Facebook users who are female between the ages of 35 and 50. The possibilities are endless.

Step Three: Set a Budget and Choose a Payment Method

Facebook can recommend you bid for each click (CPC) or thousand impressions (CPM) by scrolling down to Pricing section. A bid estimator will give you a good idea of how much you need to bid for good visibility among other plastic surgeons running ads. Facebook has built-in analytics to help track ad performance in terms of number of impressions, clicks, and click through rate. By using the analytics you can quickly change the amount bid up are down to get the best use of your money for the best results.
