Hello MDWebPro viewers! It’s been a while since my last article, so I thought I’d come back with a bang. Today’s article refers to one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard in the web business.
Maybe you’ve thought this yourself. On one hand, it seems logical. Why would I put money into something that has never worked for me? Why pay someone to make my website look awesome, when it seems as though no one looks at it? Why would I pay Google to get people to my site, when my site doesn’t get any actual business for me? It all seems to make sense. Or does it? We’ve all thought it in various forms, myself included. Growing up we thought, “Why do I need to clean my room, when it will just get dirty again?” I’ve heard it from other sources as well. The most ridiculous comment I’ve heard about websites is this: “I don’t really get much business from my website, so I don’t really want to spend money on it.”
The reason this state of mind is ridiculous is this: You’re not getting any customers from your website BECAUSE you’re not putting effort and money into your website. The more work you put into making your website perform better, navigate easier, and look awesome, the more leads and paying customers you’ll get from it. There are a lot of ways to handle this. I’ve compiled a short list of items that you can do (or have someone do) to make your website perform better!
1) Track Track Track!
We have a saying at MDWebPro: “You can’t improve upon what you don’t measure.” Makes sense, right? If you want to make a website awesome, you have to be able to track the good to make it better, and the bad to improve upon it. Doing so, you’ll be able to make Call to Actions that really get people to convert into great leads!
2) Get a Re-Design!
I’m not kidding. If your website hasn’t had a design refresh in the last 2 years, everyone visiting your website will go somewhere else for business. An old website design looks like an unsuccessful company to a user. If things are hard to find or navigate, you’ve frustrated your possible client into being someone else’s actual client. I know that people tout huge web design bills, saying that everyone else is inferior. I’ve written an article on this to help out. We’ve got a pretty cool plan here at MDWebPro, that offers great reporting and world-class web design. You can check out the information here.
It’s time to really focus on your website as the main marketing plan. Print advertising, radio, and other options are becoming obsolete in today’s tech world. With a website, not only can you reach thousands more than you would in print or radio, but it’s much more cost effective! Rather than worrying about prints, misprints, and different ads for different areas, you just create an ad, put it on your website, and you’re done! I’ve also written more about this in a previous article.
Well, that’s it. This “I don’t put effort into my website because it doesn’t perform” idea has got me scratching my head. If you want more business, the first place you should look is a quality website strategy. Need any more information that I haven’t covered here?
