Healthcare Social Media Week in Review: October 22, 2012

While some of you may be recovering from a very busy and informative Social Media Summit at the Mayo Clinic, non-attendees fear not because we’ve got a great roundup in this week’s Healthcare Social Media Week in Review.  We also focus on physician engagement via social media and 3D biological printing.

  • Not everyone in the in the healthcare community sees social media as a viable means of communication and engagement, but that mentality is evolving.  Debbie Myers writes a very interesting piece regarding the changes in healthcare and the evolution of healthcare communications.  Communicating with Patients Online: Where Real Wellness Begins
  • MedCity News sums up a very interesting study conducted by the firm WCG on how physicians are using social media.  400,000 tweets later, the results are pretty interesting. New Analysis of Doc on Twitter Shows That They are Active and Connected Users
  • Last week was the 4th Annual Social Media Summit at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Lee Aase has compiled the Top 10 To-Dos from the #MayoRagan Summit.
  • While there is the constant discussion of how the healthcare community is using social media and how we can grow its presence, Mollie Ottenhoff writes an interesting piece on the to-friend or not to-friend predicament on Facebook.  Don’t Friend Your Patients on Facebook
  • While it may not be social media related this article has been buzzing around the internet.  As 3D printing is making major waves in the manufacturing world, new developments in 3D biological printers is making a splash of its own.  Could emailing molecules be on the horizon?  Soon, Your Vaccinations Will Be Arriving Via Email
