Google Trends’ Limitations

Remember that this is only one tool in your SEO box of tricks. Google Trends does not give the specific number of times your keywords were searched on. This is a comparison between time periods for specific keywords. “Trends” is the key. In just a few seconds you can see how certain words are rising or falling in popularity.

Google Trends doesn’t communicate how competitive your keywords are: number of search results returned for those keywords. But, there are a number of free tools to provide that information as well.

If you enter a keyword with too few results, Google Trends tells you there are insufficient results. Even that information is valuable since it identifies you need to be finding more popular keywords for the same term. Sometimes, what you don’t see is as valuable as what you do!
